Four arrests not to be sniffed at

9 June 2009

A specialist team of super noses joined police and Harlow Council officers on patrol Friday evening, June 5, in a bid to combat drug abuse among late-night revellers. Funded by The Safer Harlow Partnership, the joint operation involved police, Harlow Council officers and various agencies alongside four specialist sniffer dogs; Beamish, Toby, Jasper and Alphie. The dogs, who can sniff out 12 different substances, including cocaine, heroin and cannabis, visited a total of ten pubs and clubs across the town sniffing around queues, toilets and seating areas.

Success for Street Marshals project

25 June 2009

Harlow Council is hoping to continue a three month pilot project that has been reducing anti-social behaviour in Harlow town centre. The Street Marshals project started in March 2009 with funding from the Government through the Safer Harlow Partnership. The funding paid for the employment of two trained and licensed staff to patrol the town centre at weekend evenings when there is the highest risk of anti-social behaviour
